bookkeeping
No matter how much you may enjoy doing your bookkeeping, let’s face the truth: working on your books does not generate revenue. It may be the smart thing to do; it may help you control expenses; it may help you make prudent choices; but, it does not generate revenue and it never will. And, if you are a seat of the pants type of manager, someone who truly enjoys getting out and dealing with the customers, bookkeeping just doesn’t cut it. Now, for 22 years I worked in corporate finance and could cite countless reasons why finance was just as important as__________ whatever. But as a business owner I’ve learned that “depreciation expense” is one of the most meaningless numbers on the P&L and something I give little thought to, even at tax time.
If bookkeeping is less than a top priority to you, if you would rather spend your time in other areas and if you believe your time is worth more than $25 an hour, you should farm out your bookkeeeping and focus on what you do best.
fees
We have simple bookkeeping plans starting at only $129 a month. These are not overly elaborate plans, but the reality is, most businesses really don’t need a complete balance sheet and an income statement every month. For many businesses it is sufficient to know that collections are accurate, revenue is recorded, bills are paid timely and accurately, bank accounts are reconciled and a reasonable summary of receipts and disbursements is available; if you also had a comparisson to a budget, what else would you need to make intelligent decisions? Plus, you have the security of knowing that you can call us anytime you have a question or need advice and we won’t nickle and dime you for extra fees. We’ve discussed it at length elsewhere; here it is sufficient to restate that you should aim to pay for, either in time or dollars, only the minimum amount that you need to make informed decisions.
If you need complete bookkeeping services to include payment of all of your bills, payroll, payroll taxes, cash receipts management, financial statements and your annual tax return, you should be expecting to pay $500 to $600 per month; it depends on the nature of your business; many, if not most people, need and should pay far less.
