tax audits
If you’ve received a notice from the IRS or one of California’s tax agencies, you need to take immediate action. Any delay could cause you to lose valuable rights. If you are unclear as to what you should do, call us and we would be glad to review your facts at no charge. Whatever you do, don’t delay.
The most common notices from the IRS are for administrative or procedural issues that the IRS cannot resolve without your help. For example, the IRS may be looking for a particular item included on a return submitted by you but they are unable to find it. Or, they may believe that you have a matematical error. They may even believe that you have overpaid your taxes and would like to send you a refund. Whatever the reason, do not ignore the notice(s) you receive; the sooner you respond, the more easily it will be to resolve any questions that they may have.
Rarely, but occassionally, the notice may require that you file a formal response or you will be considered to have waived your right to defend yourself unless you first pay the tax and then try to get your money back by way of a refund. In order to protect yourself, you should not ignore any IRS notice.
